3 Things I Learned While Writing my Book

I truly believe the universe asks you to move forward in certain ways based on the conversations and requests you get from those nearby. For years, members asked for me to write a book about my life, the lessons I learned and how I created it all. I have always been quite honest about my start, my lows, the highs and the success through a tremendous amount of failures. After years of adding it to my NYE goals to shoot for and writing the book 3 times to alas capture my spirit, purpose and intent, I arrived to this magical place. I watched the book hit #2 which made it an international best seller. I witnessed it brush along my favorites of Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Louise Hays, Brene Brown, Wayne Dyer and Paulo Coelho.
Today I am sharing what I personally learned through this creative and growing process.

  1. It may take longer and that’s alright : Sometimes we add goals to our lists and then apply pressure to get it all done within an unrealistic series of time. I made working on my book a weekly priority but didn’t feel connected to the writing until year 2 of my goal. Even though I was taking strides every week towards my goal, it was moving slower than I anticipated. I finally released the pressures of having it down at a certain time and praised the journey of creating what I envisioned. It’s alright if your goals take a bit longer as long as you are dedicating time and committing to action in a regular and consistent method.

  2. Your voice may not be for everyone but for those that it’s for, it’s powerful : When you realize that not everyone will understand your creation, or connect with your message, you allow your authentic self to be born and therefore connect with those that are searching for what you share. We spend so much time trying to craft words and posts to cater to a general feel. But when we get clear with our voice, our intention and our message, those seeking inspiration will find and capture all the goodness you unleashed. Be you. Be real. Be the real you.

  3. Recognize the small milestones along the way : I found more joy in the process by pausing and embracing some good ole self-love. Kind words filled with gratitude for each step of a bigger vision shouldn’t be saved for the big celebration. There was more harmony with recognizing the small moments of the larger piece. It brought more ease into the process and motivated me to keep on going since there was internal gratitude at each level of the path. Be kind to yourself in the smaller moments. It’s the little, seemingly insignificant steps that turn out to be the biggest soulful dance that you, as a result, complete.

PS. I am excited to share The Self-Guided Guru, Life Lessons for the Everyday Human is now available in paperback. Grab your copy today! It’s available in the U.S., Canada, Spain, UK and Germany.
