3 WAYS TO FOCUS ON SELF-LOVE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

It’s such a busy time of the year and so many of us may be wrapping up work or personal projects to prepare for a bit of celebrating, parties and perhaps chaotic schedules. While trying to balance it all, sometimes we forget about ourselves. We lapse in putting our self-care time at the top of our priorities, and start to put all other things before ourselves. It’s natural to be on the go for others, and neglect our time to heal, re-energize and recharge our body and soul. We hustle to get it all done, making everyone happy and ensuring every detail is perfect. However, if you are feeling drained, tired, out of balance and wonky, it’s time to focus on some self-love so you can get back to feeling your best. When you feel at your best, it inspires others to take note and dive into some self-love too. Energy is contagious and self-love is as well.

  1. Quiet time : Whether you pray, meditate, sit still or just play soft music in the car during carpool, dedicate a few minutes a day to some quiet time. I love quiet time as I find clarity, reconnection, and reflection on the beauty around me. My quiet time is my everything, and when I know life is about to get really crazy, I make sure to block out 15-20 min of quiet time to be still and connect to my soul and find my grounding again.

  2. Say no : Ya know how much I preach about saying no to that which doesn’t align. This is the season that tends to lead into overcommitment, spreading ourselves thinner than ever, and barely making it through. Please, say no to that which doesn’t align and get away from the feeling that you have to be a super woman or this perfect being. You have shelter, you have your beautiful energy and you spread love in all things. You, my dear, are perfect, and you don’t need to say yes to prove that to others. Say no to that which doesn’t feel right or align with your goals or your intuition.

  3. Spend time with those you love most : One of the best things we can do to keep our souls uber happy is to spend time with people that light our spirits in a big, positive way. You know, those people who make you smile, laugh, and make you feel better about everything. Hang out with these people when you can, schedule time to chat with them, surround yourself with people who uplift your self-love by charging up your good vibes and juju. Self-love can grow immensely by feeling good, and being with good people.

Be intentional this season. Slow down and take in the beauty around you. Be lazy if you must. Promise me, however, to share kind and loving words internally, be your biggest cheerleader, believe in your greatness and don’t diminish your love and brightness. Your self-love is powerful and you deserve the grandest dose.
