How to Navigate Tense Political Moments with Grace and Heart
How to Navigate Tense Political Moments with Grace and Heart
Let’s be real—this week might stir up some intense emotions, no matter what our political views or values are. In moments like these, I feel pulled to share a little Sunday love letter on how we can move through this week and the months ahead with peace, love, and grace. My hope is to help us all stay grounded, connected, and focused on the common threads that bind us, even when things feel divided.
The world can feel heavy sometimes, and this weight can affect our mental health in ways we may not even realize. When we’re overwhelmed, uncertain about the future, or feeling hopeless, it can pull us away from the present moment and cloud the blessings in our lives. So, let’s take a deep breath and focus on a few ways we can stay centered, hopeful, and grateful.
1. Lean into Humor & Laughter 🌈
Laughter truly is a medicine, especially when the world feels tense. When I need a little lift, I turn to my Instagram feed, where I’ve curated an endless scroll of puppies, pomeranians, and poodles in the silliest situations. Add in a few menopause and motherhood reels, and I’m guaranteed a good laugh! Humor lightens my spirit and reminds me to focus on the brighter side of life. Let’s give ourselves permission to laugh a little more, especially when things feel heavy.
2. Return to What Brings You Joy 🎶
Joy can be our anchor during turbulent times. For me, joy means cranking up the FemCity Spotify playlist and dancing around the room. Sometimes it’s joining a dance class with our Founder’s Circle Member Gail Lazarus, and other times it’s simply enjoying a solo stroll in the park. Whatever brings you joy—whether it’s music, movement, or spending time with friends—make it a priority. Joy lifts our spirits and fills our hearts, helping us stay present and grateful.
3. Find Purpose in Service 🤲
Ask yourself, how can I be a source of healing in the world? Service can be an incredible antidote to feeling helpless. Maybe it’s spending a morning at a local shelter, mentoring young women, or giving time to a community project. True service goes beyond social media posts—it’s about stepping into action, using kindness to make the world just a bit brighter. By focusing on how we can serve others, we’re reminded of our shared humanity and the power we each have to make a difference.
Moving Forward with Grace, Peace, and Unity
As we move through this week, I hope we can carry grace, peace, and unity in our hearts. May we all come together with compassion, empathy, and love, finding strength in the values we share. This world needs more of you—your kindness, your compassion, and your love.
Let’s commit to being our best selves, together. 💗
With all my love,
Violette
